DESCRIPTION:The Dallas County Disproportionality and Disparities Council (DCDDC) will host its first annual race equity conference and community resource fair on Friday\, March 31\, and Saturday\, April 1. The theme of this inaugural two-day event is Journey Towards Race Equity: Rebounding from COVID. The Community Resource Fair at the West Dallas Multipurpose Center is open to the public and free of charge.  \nAdvance registration is requested. The fun-filled day will feature entertainment from groups including the Mavs ManiAACs\, superhero appearances from Capes for Kindness\, as well as free food courtesy of Ruthie’s Food Trucks and Kona Ice\, and free groceries\, all while supplies last. Workshops on children’s health and wellness\, family mental health and addiction recovery\, and employment opportunities are scheduled\, as well as a special “fireside chat” with Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia and Pastor Richie Butler. Families also will have access to COVID-19 vaccines.

Schneider has won more Austin Music Awards than any other musician. \nThe event raises funds for Dallas CASA. DESCRIPTION:Downtown Dallas buildings will be lit blue the evening of April 9 to raise awareness for National Child Abuse and Prevention Month. \nDallas CASA is hosting a virtual Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Event to honor the 24 Dallas County children who died in 2020 due to abuse or neglect and recognize the Child Protective Services caseworkers who work on the frontlines of child welfare. Wear blue on Friday to show your support! \nMembers of Dallas’ Child Abuse Prevention Coalition members will speak at the virtual lunchtime event\, including Dallas CASA President and CEO Kathleen LaValle\, Hadijat Collins from FCAA Foundation\, Irish Burch from Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center\, Sophie Phillips from TexProtects and Ona Foster from Family Compass. Child Protective Services caseworkers are invited to drive through Dallas CASA’s parking lot for a free lunch donated by In-N-Out Burger. \nOn any given day\, more than 2\,000 Dallas County children live in the protective care of the state due to abuse or severe neglect. In 2020\, Dallas CASA’s 1\,527 volunteer advocates were assigned to advocate for 3\,374 children in protective care.
