Men of CASA Virtual Event
What:
Dallas CASA is hosting an online Men of CASA information session for men interested in learning more about being a Dallas CASA volunteer. Dallas CASA needs more male volunteers to protect and advocate for child victims of abuse and neglect. Advocates work with the child welfare and court systems to ensure children don’t fall through the cracks and receive the protection and support they need. As volunteer advocates, men can be part of safeguarding a child from harm.
Who:
Corey Anthony, chair of Dallas CASA’s Board of Directors and a volunteer advocate, will share his story of the importance of advocacy. Anthony is Senior Vice President for Human Resources and Chief Diversity and Development Officer at AT&T and serves as an advocate alongside his wife, Priscilla Anthony.
When:
6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 24
Where:
online; RSVP by emailing nnevarez@dallascasa.org
Why:
Dallas CASA is always working to recruit more volunteers to serve as child advocates, especially among groups not well-represented in the current volunteer ranks. Child victims of abuse and neglect need male volunteer advocates to stand up for them. In 2020, 1,527 Dallas CASA volunteer advocates served 3,374 children removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. While more than 50% of these children were boys, only 17% of our current volunteer advocates are men.
